This is a wooden tool for working on the outside of a ring. Simply remove the ring from the end, place your ring there, and start turning the wing nut at the bottom. Gradually the split sides start to get larger until your ring is held firmly. It makes a difficult job much easier for the jeweler. Once the ring is held firmly, you can place the clamp into a vise to free up both your hands to do the work needed.
