When you need to do a lot of sanding by hand, this way is so much easier than just using your bare hands. The sand paper fits on the block, with the edges held down, and you get to hold on the the plastic block, instead of the paper. This block comes with a small supply of sandpaper, but you can use other sandpaper as well. Just cut it to size, and you're all set!
